Value Behind Knowing Who Calls

How many unknown telephone calls do you receive in a day?  Perhaps you experience one wrong number caller, a few missed calls, and a private number that pops up on your call display.  Regardless if this sounds like a familiar scenario or not, the point is that since you've been a phone subscriber you have likely had your fair share of mystery callers.

What is your typical reaction to these unidentifiable numbers?  Do you...

• Shrug them off as unimportant? 
• Feel slightly intrigued to look into them but can't be bothered taking the time?
• Really want to know the secret of who is behind these mystery numbers and use a reverse phone lookup?

Hopefully, you are usually more inclined to follow option C.  Why? Choosing to pursue an unknown number is a matter of choosing to protect your privacy as a phone consumer.  You have a right to know who contacts you.  Furthermore, investigating a number and finding out who has called can also have other values including:

• Gives you peace of mind - You can calm your worries and find out the identity of a caller that leaves you feeling upset or anxious, such as a prank caller.

• Confirms or neutralizes your suspicions - You can find out if your lover is lying about who the caller is of a number you don't recognize that they are frequently contacting or that is contacting them.

• Protects your personal safety - You plan on conducting a business deal with someone, or you just went out on a first date and you want to find out how trustworthy the individual is.  To start you can lookup their phone number to find out if they are who they say they are.  You might find that they are not the owner of the number they gave you or that it doesn't exist.

• Reconnects you with long lost friends and family members - Numbers you don't recognize are not always the property of people you don't know.  Sometimes a missed call can actually be the product of someone contacting you whom you haven't heard from in years, but you won't know unless you look it up.

Discovering who has called can be very valuable to you, but you'll never know if running the search was worth the small effort unless you do it.  Don't make the mistake of thinking an unknown caller isn't worth your time, because non pursuit could turn out to be something you will regret.
